Participants should have completed at least Primary school education or possess Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4 in English to follow the course content effectively. You must be at least 21 years old to be eligible for SkillsFuture Credit or government funding.
Participants below 21 may still enrol but will need to pay the full course fee. Due to safety regulations, young children are not allowed in the kitchen training areas.
Funding for WSQ courses is primarily determined by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) based on several key factors. Firstly, funding is tiered based on trainee’s eligibility. For example, Singapore citizens aged 40 and above can get up to 70% funding support for courses offered by SSA Culinary Institute, whereas Singapore citizens and PRs aged 21 and above can get up to 50% funding support. Secondly, funding is also determined by compliance and performance. Participants will need to be competent for the assessment and achieve at least 75% attendance. Participants who fail to be competent and achieve 75% attendance will not be eligible for funding. Also, please note that funding will not be given to participants who have already attended the same course previously. In such a situation, participants will need to pay the full course fees in cash should they wish to reattend the course.
Course durations vary depending on course and can range from 7 to 24 hours, conducted over 1 to 3 days. Sessions are usually held between 9:00am and 6:00pm, with some courses including half-day sessions (e.g., 9:00am–1:00pm).
